  • Kaleema Hasan

    Kaleema Hasan (n. Annie P. Sumareh) is a published poet, short story writer and essayist. She is also a performance poet. Most of her work addresses the many social issues affecting modern American society and culture. Her topics include those in the areas of romantic and spiritual love, music and the arts, race, gender and social justice. She is an avid patron of the ethnic arts, music and literature, including American Jazz, blues and hip-hop; the Harlem Renaissance and the Black literary press as well as the art of the African and other Cultural Diasporas. For more than forty-five years she has read poetry for private and public programs and events. Kaleema also performs private readings for small groups, private parties, social clubs and religious events.
